Kei's new project: LJ81
Just picked this one up after an 800km round trip:
More pics to come. It's got a 1.3l Toyota 4K and 5 speed. It's been a farm car, so a fair bit of work to get it road worthy. Body, interior, electrics, engine/gearbox all good.
He needs a name.

Re: Fender flares
I got some of those generic strip ones from Ebay for my X-Trail and put them on.
It's pretty easy, just cut to size and screw them in. Here's a pic of how it turned out:

Re: Kei's 2001 Carry ute
I recently put fresh carpet in the Carry, then paid a bloke to re-upholster my seats.
Lots of sound / heat blocking stuff under the carpet and seats, a couple rolls of it from Ebay, good investment. Overall very happy with how it turned out:

Anyone up my way going to this? I'll make the drive over from Ipswich in my Carry.
If you see me come and say hi.

I was in the same position as you man. Couldn't convince myself to get a car without A/C.
If you pay someone to do it, you're looking at like 3k.
Find something with factory A/C instead. Like an alto RS/R or a Carry.

Re: Kei's 2001 Carry ute
Been a while. Moved house, changed jobs and women. Turbo carry is on the backburner, just doing some other things to it. I just got it back today with some new extractors/exhaust. Sounds and looks awesome. It's dumped near the rear diff, so from the back of the car you can't see anything. W...

Cheers man, your clues with the Changan and Aliexpress (which I also love) put me onto the case.oldvanman wrote: Nice Find
I also found a site in English where they'll buy and ship you stuff from Yahoo Japan... I'll try that next. (http://yahoo.aleado.com/)

Re: Kei's 2001 Carry ute
Turns out my car didn't drop a cylinder... I was a bit confused because it was driving fine so this is great news. Not so great news about the mechanic I was using originally though! Anyway, the guys at the turbo shop reckon it was just a valve clearance issue and it's fixed. They're doing some more...

Timber has aged and been oiled now. The colour came up exactly how I wanted it.
