I got one of those Race Tech R tachos a while ago. Biggest piece of sh!t I have ever bought (ebay $17). Got it to read something - certainly wasn't RPM. Then it died. Contacted the seller, he said it was the way it was connected - bullsh!t. It's in the shed somewhere - probably should find it and th...

Ohh. I allready took the dizzy out when pulling it apart. So if i just line the crank to top dead centre after doing the timing belt, it wont matter if i had turned the crank around? Then put the dizzy in how the manual said? That seems abit to easy, i hope thats all it is. Thanks heaps. Not quite....

I reckon the A539s are the worst tyre I have ever used.

My MB gets between 4.8 and 5.4 L/100.

I drive 100km/day and most of it is at 80km/hr.

That is exactly what I did.
That's what the post is all about.

My suggestion is that you connect all wires (except the dissy earth) to the +ive post. Your coil needs to be the right one for a 9V ignition system though, or it will never run properly. NOOOOOOO. If you connect the Black/White (+12V) to the +ve of the coil, then you will burn it out. If you do thi...

My god you certainly made a simple job difficult! Just connect the B wire to the +ive side of the coil - job done! That's a guts call considering I had no information on how a "3 terminal" coil works. Connecting +12V to a coil that requires a ballast resistor can easily burn out the...

Coil Swap

I've been chasing a slight electrical misfire for ages. Checked all the common things: Points Timing Plug Gap New Dizzy Cap Swapped the leads for some spares I had lying around. No improvement here. Also looked for stray sparks at night - none found. Finally decided it must be the coil. mmmm - three...

Sounds like the correct diagnosis to me. When I had the problem, it did like you say. However, it would idle. That's because the venturi is what froze, but the idle circuit worked. Fitting the exhaust/air cleaner pipe fixed the problem. Until I worked out exactly what was wrong, I had to let the car...

what temps are we talking about when the carb freezes. Heater temp and carb freezing are two separate issues. Carb freezing is dependent on ambient air temp and dew point. Last year I had carb freezing at about 5 degrees, but apparently it can also happen at 15 degrees. It's a big problem in aviati...

any one no what the 2nd wire does and if i can use the single wire on my f8b. My guess the second connection is for an Automatic Neutral switch. what would that do? Toyota use this system. If the car is not in neutral (or park) then the starter solenoid doesn't energise. Can't remember if the secon...

me217 wrote: that would make sense as the f8b coil is a 3 wire thing and the f5a coil is only a twin wire thing. so the 3 pin coil goes with the twin wire starter and the 2 pin coil goes with the single wire starter.
My MB is an F5a with a "3 pin coil"
