change of plans...after having a bit closer look at the F8B engine/gearbox today i have decided to keep the F5A engine/gearbox as there are some things that look a bit weird on the F8B, and i know the F5A actually ran. This means the car will not be taken away this weekend as that person was after t...

cheers brayden i though that stuff in the last pic was related to the auto transmission. on the F5a (solex) carb you can see it has the mounting holes for that rear diapram. on the F8B (mikuni) carb the diaphram mounts to the thottle linkage shaft, but doesn't appear to do anything to the shaft itse...

Help needed to indentify parts and F5a to F8B differences

hi all again. i've actually had some time off to do more with the MB and have found a few minor differences between the F8B and F5A Carbs, although the Hatch 500cc and 800cc manuals say different. i know the f5a carb works, but have never driven the f8b so unsure if it missing bits. first pic F5a Ca...

just thought i would update....if it get's close to the dump date i might re-think a parts giveaway(you have to pay for postage + a small donation), depending if there is enough interest. I would really like for someone to take the whole lot though, then they could sell/give the parts off if they wa...

Free 82' Hatch for Wrecking -- Brisbane -- GONE

Hi all, have finished taking the f8b out of the hatch for my mightyboy and now want to pass on this car to anyone who wants it for free. The hatch is missing the roof as it was used for a new tray for the mightyboy, comes with working f5a auto motor (i only ran that for 10km or so and it blew a litt...

probably talking about the float bowl tab/pin that pushes on the actual float valve if that tab gets bent 1mm or so or the pin slides out. the carb will run like a dog as there will either be to much fuel in the float therefore dumping it into the throttle bore all the time even at idle or there won...

i'm no expert on these gear-boxes, but motorbikes have a similar design where there is a plate to hold in the bearing and input shaft of the gearbox to the cases. remove the plate, heat the casing around the bearing with a blow torch (butane torches work well also as they are easier to direct the he...

both exactly the same size except one has no seals and the other only has a seal on one side of the balls. it's better to get fully sealed 6007 bearings (same price as std. ones) as that way you arn't depending just on the seal on the drive shaft to stop dirt and water. just get a reputable brand of...
