I'm confused about why you need to turn the crank 2 revolutions. 1 revolution will bring it back to the same point, albeit on a different stroke cycle. This is a final check to ensure all the marks line up after complete assembly. Here's a tip if changing the belt only: While the old bet is still a...

I'm getting between 4.5 and 5.5 L/100K.

That's a 550 manual.

I try to run mainly on the primary because the secondary causes massive flat spots and it jerks a lot.
Got to do that carby rebuild soon

F5A Carby

As the title says, I'm after a carby. I'm having issues with mine. Apparently it's an automatic carby, but it's on a manual MB. Don't know if that makes any difference. Bought a kit to do the rebuild, but I'm thinking of getting another carby to rebuild instead, and then just swap it over. PM if you...

So that's where mine went. Mine doesn't have one.
Makes me wonder what the previous owner would have done.

I've been carting a trolley jack around - just in case.

Actually I should refer to it as a "tiny block"

Apart from my Rangie (which has a 4.4L) I also have a 82 Ford ESP which has a 5.8L. So that would be a "massive block"

Just an update. The carby is still performing like crap. Secondaries are opening up, but it actually slows down  I reckon the float level is incorrect, or maybe emulsion tubes/jet blocked. Ripped off the idle up diaphragm thingy. Seemed to serve no purpose. Hose configurations are still all ove...

Welcome Peter,

I'm a new boy myself.
FleaBay is great when it works in your favour :)

My MB has the small block, and too has some problems.
But I am ironing them out - one by one.

I'm a little confused. If you like the car, why sell it? 45 mins in a MB or 45 mins a Camry (or whatever) is still the same. Freeway travel shouldn't hurt/damage/ruin/stress the MB. In fact, that's why I just bought one. I travel 50 mins to work, and fuel cost in the Range Rover was astronomical. Do...

My favourite would be Megasquirt.
Great for people who want to do everything themselves.

Not that common at dyno tuning places - but comes with it's own software to adjust everything.

If you want a programmable ignition system only, then the Megasquirt is a waste of money. Megasquirt is the full efi and ignition system (and a very good one in my opinion). There is a smaller version called Megajolt - which is ignition only. It utilises the Ford Electronic Distributorless Ignition ...

Tyre Size

I see this topic (tyre info) has been done to death, but I just found out some serious (for me) info. Got a nail in my left rear and it has developed a slow leak. Thought I'd put the spare on, and keep the slow leaker as the spare (I always carry a pump). Well, the spare is heaps smaller. Its 145/70...

Brayden wrote:Stock carby will be either Solex or Mikuni depending on model. Fuel Miser is the brand of the rebuild kit. ;)
Isn't Solex the European company, and Mikuni (japan) manufactured copies or licensed versions? I would have thought that Suzuki would only have Mikuni. Maybe badged Mikuni-Solex.
