Re: Now the MB Build thread

Nope, Brayden only had time to put the camera on for one run. I will probably think about getting one myself now. It will be pretty cool to be able to have footage from each of the runs. I will be taking it back out after I have done the EFI (which will probably be some time off) so it will be inter...

Re: Now the MB Build thread

Thanks mate the video looks great. You were right when you were saying that the spin looked pretty mild but there was no way I was going to catch it on the day. Looks like I might have to invest in a gopro before the next one to get some more footage.

Re: arklan f8c engine swap

Good in theory but without going into too much detail the extra thread will create high stress concentration areas and the thing will snap off which is not a good idea. if you had a spare bar you could give it a go to see if it solves your issues.

Re: Now the MB Build thread

The sprinter is a much better car for this sort of thing but the MB was fun to punt around though.

It might get another outing at the end of next month if the Sprinter isn't ready.

Re: Now the MB Build thread

Thanks for the photos Brayden, good to finally put a face to the name as well.

Very tempted to take this thing back out again to see how much better it will go, I love a good challenge but I have to remember that this is just the drive to work car and the proper one is in the shed.

Cheers

Re: Now the MB Build thread

Ok so it was a bit of an interesting day. Not knowing how fast it would go I make a call of 60 seconds to be the time to beat in the morning and reeled off a 60.57 on the first lap, followed by a 60.25 on the second. Getting a little carried away I managed to loop it on the third lap (which Brayden ...

Re: Now the MB Build thread

Ok all happy with how the car is, I didn't have the time or the material to make the camber plates so I put and extra 1 degree of neg camber into it and had a play around with the tyre pressure to see what sort of difference it makes. I have dropped it down to 25 psi and it feels pretty good but I t...

Re: eccentric strut tops

With regards to moving it forward you don't drill new holes but rather bolt a plate to the old holes with a new set on holes in the plate for the revised location. Not too sure if the difference is in the sway bar or the mounting points. To be honest I didn't really know about the 1 degree offset un...

Re: Now the MB Build thread

JB I wouldn't really call it competing. Really it is just a bit of fun in the MB as I am converting the Sprinter to E85 and it won't be tuned in time. Should be good for a laugh though. I will probably take it back out when I have finished the EFI conversion to see if the extra power makes any diffe...

Re: eccentric strut tops

None that I am aware of. The standard setup runs about 1.5 degrees of caster and you should have a 1 degree difference from left to right. You can get another 2 degrees of caster if you move the sway bar mount forward 20mm which I am going to try and get done before I run the car at the hill climb o...

Re: MB w/ G10a engine, fuel pump suggestions?

Ben, You don't want higher pressure as it will over power the float seat and you will get flooding on the engine. The more likey situation is that you need to adjust the float height in the carby as what you are describing is a symptom of a low float height. Having said all that, I would also look a...

Re: Now the MB Build thread

Having a Swift motor in this thing makes life so much easier. New water pump is $35 from Repco and in stock. Pick it up at lunch, fit it up tonight and all should be good with the world again. Debating on whether or not to make up the caster plates before the weekend to see if it makes much differen...

Re: Now the MB Build thread

Nope not the thermostat it is the water pump. Water is dripping out the witness hole at a fair rate. To think that I was nearly going to replace it when I had the thing off last time. Time to source a replacement and hope they have one locally.

Re: Now the MB Build thread

So I just downloaded Race Chrono for my phone so I should be able to get some reasonably robust lap data as well to compare between runs and see how I am doing. In typical fashion though with this thing now booked in to race it is doing funny things with the cooling system. I think that the thermost...
