OK, I logged some data and found ridiculously high RPM reading upon cranking. It shoots up to 12,500 RPM!!!

Is it easier to replace the actual sensor or the distributor? And where would I be able to source either of these?

Yep that is exactly what it sounds like. Sometimes the starter motor would get stuck and I would have to out into fourth and roll the car backwards and forwards till it 'clicked' out. But yes it does sound like an advancing issue, and the invoice said something about engine over advancing during cra...

The starter motor.

Yeah there is spark and fuel at the rail. It seems to be the same problem happening again :bashhead:

Trying to get the Boy going again

Hey, I have finally got around to getting another starter motor after my troubles back in July 2008. I still think the problem wasn't entirely fixed. I found the invoice and here is what it says: (For those who don't know I am running an EFI setup) Engine over advancing at times only during cranking...

Sounds like a good trip. Where abouts in Hobart are you? I am in Sandy Bay but haven't had my MB going for a while now. It's got the F8B transplant with EFI.

Not sure how many have done the 5 speed 1000cc swap but the F8B is the easiest for a good increase in power.

Don't suppose you want to give me one :D I'm looking to get my boy back on the road and a starter motor would be a start!

Starter Motor

Looking for one to suit the F8B now that my old one has been chewed through. Need it going again so I can get some work done on it.

Thanks in advance.

That's what I thought! I asked on the AEM Forum and one guy said "if all your settings are correct you have a crank and/or cam pickup noise problem. This is usually taken care of by rerouting plug wires, ensuring the grounds are good, and if all else fails installing a 1k ohm resistor in series...

ECU Issues

Been a while since I posted and a while since I have driven the MB. But apparently my DualSport ECU is causing issues with my distributor/starting system, causing my starter motor to cut back on itself and in effect fecking up my starter motor.... a reconditioned one only lasted weeks... The mechani...

Turbocharge or Supercharge

With the abundance of AMR300 superchargers that seem to be about I am yet again torn between turboing or supercharging. As I already have EFI I have got most of the things I need. If I turbo I need a custom exhaust and other bits which could be costly but if I supercharge I need to fiddle with the m...

Yeah it's been stored in a box for ages - in desperate need for a rebuild.

Not sure if I want to sell it or not, (definitely not give it away :) ) given they are pretty hard to come by and I might want to put it on another MB one day...

Made it go pretty hard though and sounded awesome!
