If I had a dollar for every time someone has said to me "what is the best motor for my MightyBoy" I would probably have enough money to get my ute gold plated. Sadly I don't think I'll see a single cent, so here's a quick & dirty summary of the most common engine conversions that are able to be made street legal with proper clearances.

Fantastic post.
What a wealth of knowledge.
Personally - I'm extremely happy with fuel economy. Performance comes from my other vehicles!

I would like to be able to compare torque figures here also. I have a G10a on my wish list but I see a F6a has comparable power. Which one is happier climbing hills/towing (small trailer)?
So many delays to getting my MB back in order with 993cc & 5 speed transaxle... neighbor issue gone, donor shell up on rotisserie, new sheds on the way.... another project also..
Torque figures added.

Great work brayden!!!!
just a thought on the F5a DOHC/SOHC turbo engines, I was under the impression from other forum users that they share the same engine mounts as the std. f5a/f8b???? with only the fueling and exhaust systems to sort out on the install....
wouldn't this make the difficulty a lot easier than 4????
great work again and you should have already made this a sticky!!!!!

The import F5A motors use the same engine cradle as an F6A, so the installation process is the same. However some people have made engine mounts to keep the standard MB frame. Either way it is not a simple swap when you consider the wiring and fueling aspects too.

The revised version is even better! Nice work dude!
A G10a with 5spd & turbo would be very wicked in a might boy!

I second that (e)motion!!!
Mine already has the mod plate for a G10a so its just a matter of finding a motor & box (at least) in reasonable nick & at the right price
Also waiting to see possibilities using new Alto driveline.
Brayden, your efforts are greatly appreciated.

thanks for that Brayden, this is very informative. I should have looked here in the first place. Just wondering if I was to go with the Matiz conversion is there any problem with CV joints or anything else. I believe if a 1000cc is fitted there are mods to be done in this area.
Thanks, Ron
