already thought of that and swapped springs the 2nd time i removed them.

Either way with out the springs the soft one is MUCH easier to push down by hand and it rebounds back almost as fast.

Sounds like the valving in one of the struts is buggered.

With the part numbers, SA Swift have different numbers for left/right side, whereas MB units are the same. I'm pretty sure that only the last digit on the Swift struts should be different though.

Im thinking of doing this conversion.
Am I correct to say that you can use standard MB brake lines however you need to make some sort of bracket to fix them to the new SA strut?
Once I put them on I dont intend to take them off so Bleeding brakes will only have to be done in the conversion process?
Also I understand it lower the front of the MB 1inch. Will this affect the camber and if so how do I correct it and also will my tyres scrub?(165/65/13) Thanks

Do you plan on using the Swift hub and strut, or just the strut?

Am planning just the strut at this stage. I am going to upgrade all my suspension bushes and Shocks/struts. As there is no available MB strut.

No but you can have the standard MB strut resleeved.

If you want to use a Swift strut then you'll need to use Swift brake lines, and modify the lower bracket to mate up with the MB hub. Depending on how you modify the bracket you can give the strut some camber adjustment at the same time.

Whether or not your tyres will scrub depends on the offset of the wheel and whether or not the arches are rolled.

I will look into rebuilding the stock MB struts. What sort of cost should I expect if I give the struts to someone? Any recomendations for a company doing the Job?

for the inserts its approx 600? i think from memory.. cant be certan tho..

Apparently you can send them to Koni for resleeving. All you need to do is find a local Koni agent. Cost is around the $600 mark for a pair.

my gabriel's cost less than half that, monroes would be similarly priced....

Pedders have quoted me $180 for the rear shocks(#8101).
Is this a resnoable price or am I better off getting the hatch Shocks(Monroe or Gabriel)

$180 for a pair is reasonable enough, but you couldn't pay me to use Pedders products.
