g'day all,
I'm pretty new and inexperienced with mighty boys so heres my problem:

the boy drives great until i began to decelerate at lights/stopsigns etc. as I am just about stopped the engine stalls. is this able to be fixed easily?

also the exhaust pops as i decelerate.

I'm going to be taking it in to get fixed soon but i thought i'd ask your advise first.

cheers for your help, it will be greatly appreitated

Rough guess... timing is out and or its running to rich, also check your air cleaner element while your on the job. At the worst the timing belt has slipped a tooth.

Cheers

give your carb a very decent cleaning (in the bores) mine was doin something very similar, turned out to be clogged idle control circuit.

bit of compressed air fixed that ;)

Why has your carby "had it"? Unless it is badly corroded then it can be rebuilt.

get the plugs and points checked, also the ignition leads.
only got 3 cylinders so very sensitive to a crook plug.
popping is often due to unburnt fuel going into the silencer and igniting there. this is going in from the overrun when decelerating, and is usually a carby problem.

Hi,

I had this problem with my MB when I got it. I eventually found a wire coming off the back of the carby that goes into the wiring loom was broken. It has something to do with the idle. Whenever I would brake, the engine would lean forward enough to make the contact break, and the engine would stall. I fixed it a couple of times before finally increasing the length of the wire and replacing the engine mounts (which were less than pretty).

Hope this helps.

Dave , thats the fuel cut solenoid( to stop to stop possible dieselling after motor is turned off) a good point to check whenever there is fuel delivery problems .cheers
