Auto carby has no overrun enrichment system, and has additional vacuum solenoids for idle-up. The jetting is the same auto/manual though.

If the carby suits the motor then yeah.

Prevents the motor from leaning out on overrun.

The overrun enrichment system is for manual carbies, and it works when the engine is in overrun - basically when you back off the throttle in any gear and the motor is being driven by the wheels instead of the other way around.

Also when your going down a hill, not using throttle

Im putting a F8b manual carby on my AUTO MB.(F8b conversion) I have the F8b man carb and F5a auto carb(original). Do i need to swap something over from the F5a auto carb to the man F8b?
Thanks :)

From my experience it is problematic to use a manual carby on a motor with an auto box. I would swap the jets from your F8B carby into the F5A one.

You're also going to run into issues if you only have an F8B manual intake manifold too, because it is missing one of the temperature control switch for cold start idle.
