Yeah, i know it say's you get 50% more power, it feels way more than that
Well it is 50% on paper, but it does feel a lot more. Did you get a std rebuild or some head work too?Arctic Alto wrote:Yeah, i know it say's you get 50% more power, it feels way more than that

I'm guessing just a std rebuild, i didnt ask for anything extra. They could have done something extra
You're probably comparing a very tired 543 to a fresh 800...
F5a = 19Kw & 35nm of torque fresh - who knows what you had just before it died...? - maybe 15Kw & 25nm?
F8B = 29Kw & 59nm of torque fresh (which you'd like to think a newly refurbished engine should be!)
So maybe, 15kw vs 29 and 25nm vs 59...
So on paper I'd say the power might seem more like double...
Enjoy.

Your probably right Tez, I am enjoy the power of the F8B
I'm curious of how much power i will lose once i put the stereo back in.
But that will be a few more weeks though. i'll wait till its run-in first.

Good points there Tez.
I had a good F5a till it spun a bearing, and then a "within tolerance" F8b, that was a huge difference, then when that died & i rebuilt it, now a fresh F8b with a port job on the head, that is a whole world more powerful, from the way the vehicle feels. It might only be say 5kw or less improvement over a stock rebuilt F8b, but little gains = fun in such a small car!
It's almost ticked over 4,000kms since rebuild in September 09, Once i have passed 4500 i'm going to see about getting some dyno time, so i have some before efi & turbo readings to compare with.
Craig -> You won't loose power per say with the stereo, you will loose the responsiveness of the car due to extra weight, but who knows, it should still be much better than a stock F5a with the stereo gear in!
Cheers

Hey Jay...
Have you seen all that clobber Craig had in his car???
I reckon with all that in, you'll be back to the "old F5A" performance!
Nah, not really... Any additional weight will not help performance, but loud rockin music always makes a car go better, so DO IT MAN...
I know in my case, a loud song I like always seems to cause HRFD (heavy right foot disorder) & faster gear changes = improved performance.
Cheers.

Hey Tez,
Yeah mate, i seen all of Craigs gear! It sounded good for a little alto too! The alto will be slower with it all in there, but it won't loose power, just responsiveness. With or without stereo gear, there will be 29kw on tap, it just might not feel like it with that power having to lug around more weight.
I know what ya mean about HRFD, only trouble is if i get that in my EB, it ends up costing a lot in petrol & tyres.
Cheers
