Just picked up a 800 F8B complete with Auto off a 1983 hatch. I want to slip it right in after I attend to the Carby that looks filthy but was told it did run fine, (that's what they all say if the motor hasn't turned over in almost three years!) Still, I was amazed how quickly we, or he, whiped out...

550 Auto convert to 800 Auto
I have searched and read many wonderous things about an F8B upgrade. My question to the MB gurus, who know is, can I use my 550 auto Carby and inlet manifold plus the exhaust manifold on a F8B block (keeping the auto g/b) I understand I may have to rejet the carby and that, the auto gb off a 550 wil...

we've all been fooled if you compare most of the pics with the exception of the dash, a/c and gear stick they have been lifted to use on the Australian Mighty Boy Sales Brochure ... including the engine ... is it the turbo?? ..... you guys should have a better eye for this? Still; this means that in...

I would greatly apriciate that. Even if the ss40v manual is identical, I wonder if the ss40v hatch was ever offered with an auto in Australia? I'd even pay for photocopies of such material for my own reference. Have you ever see the japanese sales brochure for the mighty boy? .... very cool indeed. ...

I assumed the box had lost its oil over time. I was wrong. I didn't drive the vehicle after that. I let it rest and the next day drained the oil and started again........ Yes, much better.... and today when cold oil just above low indicator and after a nice 15 min drive, I let it sit for a couple of...

I understand dextron II is has been superceded by dextron III as the manufacturers prefered Automatic transmission fluid for the sb308 box, BUT somewhere I read (josh, I think) recomended another blend for this box, can someone help me, with what tranny oil type is highly recomended and for what rea...

excellent - excellent , thanks that's good to know, although I had no idea that the carbs were different on autos and manuals. I could really do with the extra torque. At the moment there's more torque in the cabin when i've got a passanger! Still is it easier to pull out the whole engine, bo...

F5A Auto to F8B Auto
As a MB forum virgin I would like to know if I could pull out the 550 F5A, keep my auto in situ and remove an F8B from a manual box, bolt it up to the 550 auto. Is this as simple as that or is the F5A auto incompatable with an F8B engine?? I know altos had 800 autos so did the later 800 hatch but is...
