Re: SC100 bastardisation project.

Had a wee blat in the beast today :) it's quite quick!

Fuel pump is a noisy bastard, will have to change that and the exhaust is a pig too but no bother.

The orange mini in the photos is a 1.6 Honda VTEC jobbie, I think its putting out close to 170bhp.

I'll link some vids soon.

Re: SC100 bastardisation project.

ugh... 3 more weeks and another $1000 to go... car is actually finished but certification will take ages. :( Mechanic reckons he hit 95kph in second, so i've got that to look forward to :) At the mo it appears I have gone over budget by about $2k nzd... so including purchase of car and engine/ parts...

Re: SC100 bastardisation project.

Re: SC100 bastardisation project.

more news... Brakes are all sorted and work reasonably well. Have had the car for a few road tests, niggling issue with a misfire, we feel the lift pump may be too small & we are running out of fuel. Seems to go all well until about mid-rpms in 3rd. Hooked up some gauges etc on Friday and have d...

Re: SC100 bastardisation project.

Hey All, I saw the car at the mechanics last week. It had all its piping removed for welding etc so I still havnt heard it running :( The Mechanic works with mini's quite a bit and is confident he can sort something out for the front brakes, so I'm just gonna throw money at him until its done :) He ...

Thanks brayden, I'll be seeing the car this week, so I'll take some shots and measurements of the front hubs.

Thanks mog! I'll be in touch shortly!

Re: SC100 bastardisation project.

Right... Shit. I'm going to have to get this sorted now then otherwise it will have to re-certified.

Any suggestions for the rear? I've been told trying to change the rears to disc brakes would be a monumental pain in the ass...

Re: SC100 bastardisation project.

Oh do you mean from the first pic? That was Land Rover Green No.3 I believe... It was a nice colour... sometimes bright metallic green, sometimes black and sometimes blue  As for the brakes, would replacing the master cylinder and adding braided brake hoses etc improve matters? not all that kee...

Re: SC100 bastardisation project.

Yeh you're right! Any ideas? I'm sure I can get some high quality pads made but how do I stop brake fade? Also thinking about colour/ finishing... I'd like to keep it simple but interesting if you know what I mean... An old friend was keen to airbrush something on it but we've lost touch... What doe...

Re: SC100 bastardisation project.

Hi Everyone! time for an update... this is from the mechanic: "Sorted all vacuum/fuel lines etc, removed all brackets/EGR valve/switches not required, fabricated throttle cable bracket, fitted some rubber mounts to the fuel pump to shut it up a bit, replaced some of the fuel line with correct g...

Re: Aarrgghh! more bits needed!

Sweet thanks!

When this engine was first started the mechanic said it was reaching boost pressure at idle. Would this system (vacuum tube/gas filter/map sensor) cause something like that if it wasn't complete?

Re: Aarrgghh! more bits needed!

Hey thanks for the info, so does that mean I just need to hook one side up to the map sensor and plug the other port? Ie. it doesn't mater which port goes where as long as one is blocked and the other routes to the map?

I got one from Suzuki nz btw it cost about $50
