550 Gearbox,s

I have 2 550 gearbox's if anyone wants them. They will be dispatched to the dump if there are no takers. The biggest problem is that I am situated in the Central West between Blayney and Cowra and they would have to be picked up.I will hang on to them for a couple of weeks then out they go Regards De...

I used the engine mount from the 550 on the right side. The hole in the mount for the engine mount is about 30mm different on the 800 so you had the engine in cockeyed and thats why the top mount looked wrong.Brayden has a guide to changeing from 550 >800 where all is revealed.I have driven mine now ...

800 engine mounts

I recently replaced the 550 motor and box in my MB with a 800.I did not at that time fit the second top engine mount. It seemed to me after driving it for a while that when taking off the torque reaction made the takeoff a bit ordinary.I wonder if anyone else has had the same reaction.I have today fi...

Thanks for that,I thought that it might be something like that. The thing goes very well but uses a bit of oil. There seems to be a bit underneath the motor but I cannot see where it is comeing from.I guess that they carry so little oil a little bit seems like a lot on the stick. I also found a bit of...

MB Hatch Clutches.

I Have aquired a 800 hatch and will put the motor and gearbox in the MB. On pulling the box off the motor I found to my surprise that the gearbox input shaft does not spigot into a bush/bearing in the flywheel. Strange I thought,is this normal I ask? The oniginal 550 Motor/Gearbox appears to be norm...

Thanks for that info.Incidentally the 550 has had a nip up in the centre cyl and dragged the ring lands over the rings. It had very little oil in it so I think that was the culprit. The rest of the engine seems in good nick. The bloke that I bought it off reckoned it was a blown head gasket but I wasn...

MB 800cc conversion NSW Registration

Does anyone know what if any problems there are with NSW Registration after converting a MB from 550>800cc Engine. Is it necessary to have engineers report or whatever. My 550 motor is ordinary and I have scored 2 800 hatches so the change is on if there are not too many dramas with RTA Regards Dennis

Parts,Gaskets,Seals etc for 543 motor

I have just obtained a Mighty Boy as a project in my declining years and it is running on 2 Cyl with a lack of compression on the centre one.I will have to pull the head off to invistigate and need to know the best source of supply for gaskets parts etc. Also is there any seats in particular that hav...
