Want tacho and aftermarket air intake for f5a

I want to buy an aftermarket tacho and rampod style filter for my MB f5a and was wondering if anyone has one or knows where i can get one cheap as possible

prefer tach black with a back light about 2-3" and air filter CHROMED

Speco make 3 cylinder tacho's for about $100, another few dollars to buy a pod for it and an afternoon to fit the thing.

Dunno about a ramflow filter, i heard there were some around a while back but were discontinued.
Anyone else know about them?

RamFlo by Lynx - you need a 600 series but I can't remember the exact model number sorry.
If you measure the neck of your carby thats all you need to figure it out, because the corresponding models are listed on the back of the RamFlo box.

And who (as in big chain stores) might have them?

Take off the air filter assembly.
Measure the diameter of the hole underneath it.

If all else fails, ask the old man, he'll know what it's all about.

Josh, I have Google too of course and seen that page (well the Aus site anyway, http://www.lynxcorp.com.au/application_ ... idx=ramflo) but I thought it would be easier if someone had the model number handy.
That way the stock system only has to come off once when the filter gets here

Sure thing Selfdestruktor.

It only takes 30 seconds to rip the standard intake assembly off to have a peek and measure the carby neck. You're always far better off checking yourself than just trusting a part number that is throw at you - especially if checking yourself is a piece of cake.

Dude....the f5a carby has a diameter the same as an " export " brand spray can lid ( from supercheap ).

I know this because my Ramflow filter was the same size as the as the carby and the only way to fit mine was by cutting about 1" or 2.5cm off the paint can lid and buying 2 large hose clamps to attach it.

Refer to my pics in the Tamon gallery.....it is invisible.

The hardest part is trying find a filter......try phoneing Supercheap and see if they can locate 1 at one of their stores Nationwide via computer.

The diameter will be the same as the paint can lid whatever that is.

It's been some years since I worked their but last I did their ability to track stock of stores nationwide as you say was non-existant. At best you could see warehouse stock, but never have any clue as to when stock may arrive in-store. Finding stock in other stores was a matter of working the phone like crazy and inter-store transfers are more or less non-existant - the customer gets sent to the store to buy the item themselves.

Further, the RamFlo filters are a deleted line, and have been so for quite some time now so any stock left on clearance is probably gone.

I don't know if SuperCheap Auto still have an account with Lynx, but I'd hazard a guess that they still do and you should be able to order the correct filter just fine...

Seriously though, take your business to AutoPro or AutoBarn... you'll be a whole lot better looked after...

thanks guys im sure i will bea able to find a match now... does anyone have a spare f5a carby as well cos i think mine has gone to shit i was taking a look at it today because my car kept drowning in fuel and i think a few parts are beyond repair. CHEWED, a replacment would be nice or is there an aftermarket that is a good replacment?

Not really - better off chasing a carby kit to rebuild yours or nicking another carby off a Hatch wreck to put a rebuild kit through it. You can keep your car on the road in the meantime and then just do a straight swap-over.
