Good luck with getting it back on the road mate, but I think the person who sold it was having a laugh. They should have given you $100 to take it away!

I'd say for the money its going to cost to fix that one up, you could probably get a better condition one and use what you can of that one for parts .

Failing that you could get a better condition one and use the money you saved to gold plate it  .

#1 - im a first year spraypainting apprenticeship so body damage and paint is not a problem.

#2 - my mate is a mechanic so its gonna be cheap as they come to fix.

The thing thats gonna cost you is the interior...
And parts, they're not easy to come by now.

the body and interior are the last thing you should worry about!
I would be damn worried about how straight your chasis is and also your suspension and steering components from going over jumps!

I am doing up a hatch at the moment and finding tie rods, bushes, suspension components extremely hard to come by(sure you could get stuff from wrecks but why would you want to rebuild it to handle like its 20+ years old?).

so check how straight the car is before you do anything to it!(you can get measurements of almost every critical component from the downloadable hatch manual someone here will have a link for it :) ) remember for under $500 you could find a good hatch that is running and has half decent components.

Not a bad way to learn about cars but it WILL wind up costing more than just getting a good one plus parts are not always easy to get I have been trying to chase up an Auto for my second hatch (one that I can verify works) since Christmas.
But good luck anyway
I have come to the end of an era After 20 years of Kei cars It is time to move on - And almost time to leave this forum and say thanks to all who have assisted me .
