Nope, the wiring would be completely different for a start, not to mention the difference in size.

Hey, the instrument cluster that's in the jap MB's would be a bolt in replacement to the aussie ones wouldn't it?

The wiring loom is different (because of the tacho), but it should physically fit no worries.

Who cares, they're legal to import and register because they're old...
The only problem you'll have is if it's got a turbo engine because the design rules in japan for modifying cars probaby doesn't match the aussie codes...
So you would have to get an engineer to check out the intsallation before you could get it legal.

By complete chance I met a bloke at Wakefield Park who had an imported Series 1 MightyBoy with an Alto Works 550cc twinkie under the bonnet. That was pretty much how it landed in Australia.
But I'll tell you right now that there is very little point in importing an MB for a couple of reasons.
a) Rust. Any 18 year old Kei import I have seen has had more rust than clean metal.
b) Mods. To make the cost of importing an MB worthwhile, you would need to pick one that already had the shit modded out of it. But of course then you run into the problem of getting the dodgy Japanese mods past a compliance test in Australia.
In all honestly, having done the sums it works out cheaper to find a rust-free MB in Australia and spend the cash to build it up.
