Hey everyone, just wondering if the selector shaft on the F8B gearboxes are available new.
With a bit of luck i won't need one but i thought i may aswell ask.
Do they wear out easily?
I mean do they wear out quicker than the gearbox itself or what?

Thanks in advance,
Steve.

They shouldn't wear out at all. Whats the problem with your box?

They do wear out I have a shaft in mine that has wear along in a couple of places. there are at least 3 different types you can't tell until you get it out which one it is.

The shaft shouldn't really wear but the oil seal can fail or wear out. It is not the rubber/plastic cover that you can see externally but it is inside the box. It means that to access this you need to take off the round plate underneath the box near to where the shaft enters the box.
It has been mentioned in a previous post (can't remember) and I was warned there are many little spings that can go ping, ping all over the place. Better to get someone who knows about these things before you tackle it.
If your gearbox leaks oil from here then it is the shaft seal.

Well i pulled it out last weekend and it was easy as.. much easier than i thought it would be.
We replaced all the seals in the box (axle seals, input shaft, selector) so it should be perfect. :D

MBUTE - there's no little springs that fly around when you pop that plate off the bottom.. that's my gearbox anyway, not sure if they're all the same.

I got all my bits from suzisport in brissy...
Suzuki genuine are useless and suziworx up the coast here don't exist anymore. :(
But yeah, easy job.. only 5 or 6 bolts and push the pin out, pull the shaft, replace the seal and put it back together. :D

Apparently SuziWorx are still around, they just don't have a shopfront anymore. Last I heard Mark was still in business.
