Why is it reading wrong?
Oversized wheels...?

The solution would be to either fit lower profile tyres on your rims, or get the speedo recalibrated by an instrument specialist. ![Cool 8)](./images/smilies/icon_cool.gif)
... Or work out how much the speedo is out by and drive accordingly.![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

What profile do you have? I have 165/65's and my speedo is pretty spot on (well I was driving next to one of those Citroen's with the big digital speedo and it said 70 and so did mine
)

Technically 165/65/R13 tyres should put the speedo out by roughly 7%, so jono's "correct" reading must be a glitch in the Matrix. ![Sniggering :snigger:](./images/smilies/icon_snigger.gif)

My last set of wheel with 165/70/13 (got to double chek size could be 75 series) were about 15 km out.I just bought a set of pirelli p400 165/70 and did a trip to sydney with a gps and it was 5km out at all speeds, but youvé got to also allow approx 10% in accuracy on the gps as well.Also going of the km signs (check speedo signs) on the freeway every 1km my speedo only did 9/10 of a km which fitted in with the 10% .Also these tyres really gave the Mb a much smoother ride and they were only $60 each.
