From an 'A current Affair' during the week i saw a guy in Victoria who was aying that they can't set up speed cameras if the car can roll faster than the speed limit i.e on a downhill.
Can someone confirm this? and wether this is the case in NSW

I have no idea about NSW, when I was working mobile speed camera's in Vic the rules were if you came down a hill in high gear and backed of the loud pedal and the car gained speed then that was a no operation area.
We were given sections of roads to work between post, roads, signs or what ever, normaly a klm long and depending on the sun and buildings we were to find somewhere to set up.

If NSW is using the same equipment the rules will most likely be the same.

Most of the country bases its operations on VicRoads methods & documents.
So many delays to getting my MB back in order with 993cc & 5 speed transaxle... neighbor issue gone, donor shell up on rotisserie, new sheds on the way.... another project also..

What Graeme is saying is that they aren't allowed to set up cameras in areas where gravity causes the car to accelerate over the speed limit.

If this is the case then you could argue an infringement given in such an area, but you'd still have to prove it. In the end you have a brake pedal for a reason. ;)

Hehehe, all we have are mobile ones. They dont always follow the rules either. Ie Can't comoflage/hide, but placing them behind fixed rubbish bind and bus stops is common practice.

Usually spot the car/truck <15m away before the camera anyway.

Mate, that's exactly how it has been in WA for the last 10+ years.
mobile systems, with the only signage being a small A3ish sized thing usually placed parallel with the road so you don't see it until after you have already passed the camera.
Downhill, uphill, the lot.

No wonder people here are such atrocious drivers, eyes are glued on the speedo out of fear, rather than on the road and around their surroundings as they should be.

New cameras just been brought on-line are combined red-light and speed cameras. A genuine safety use.

Everyone speeds, its a fact.

In the boy i cant keep it under 60 with it in 3rd, so its either go 65-70 or have my foot on the brake the whole way down.

Called queensland transport and asked what happens if im caught doing 65 in a 60 on a incline, woman said you will get a ticket but can contest it.

I'd rather go 70 down a hill than make my rims all dirty from brake dust lol.
