like the title states, is it possible to get a taller final drive ratio for either the 550cc or the 800cc box?? just i always feel so bad doing highway driving....

if not will just have 2 hurry up and get the coin 2gether and do the 660cc turbo/5sp box swap...

ps anyone in brisbane know a shop that would be willing to do this swap when the time comes?? cos suzisport at all 3 locations dont seem to keen to be involved in the job. they almost run away when ever i mention it....

cheers

SuziSport at Albion did the conversion on (gazuga) Mark's ute. You could also try SuziWorx, they might be willing.

As for your taller final drive, it could be done, but the costs would be more than getting a 5 speed box imported. If you have an F8B box then don't worry about leaning on it. I've done 110kph between Canberra and Sydney repeatedly with no problems.

Even a F5A 'box shouldn't be that bad... Sure, 5000rpm@120kph won't do it the ~best~, but not even I used to worry too much about it

I'm still running a 800cc box and i have a 5 speed ready to go in. But i dont want to spend a fortune on the cv's to be built. The only problem is the clutch is smaller and it slips under high load (4 speed).
Suzisport used to do a 4 speed to 5 speed conversion for about a grand.

is it true that the 5 speed box from the swift will bolt to the f8b?
if so does it do any better than 4th gear from an f8b?

No a Swift box will not bolt onto an F8B/5A without a serious amount of work.
