Rego costs
Cost me about $550 for rego this year.
$257 for rego & just under $300 for green slip.
Green slip costs can vary markedly though, based on age, driving history and other insurances held.

My last greenslip quote was $1000
Cronulla south of Sydney, not currently registered, 29y/o male with no recent claims.
I should check it again that I have turned 30 and I should strap a bucket on the ute tray and call it a hatch which i think is $300 greenslip

Even a 17 y.o. (no previous insurances or driving history) is under $600 straight off the web.
If you comp/third party with the same company most will give you a discount, multiple cars will get you a bigger discount.
We always call our insurer when renewals come around. Surprising how much you can get off when you ask.
And don't be afraid to change companies if they won't play ball. Allianz learn't the hard way. Lost 6 cars (full comp) over $100.

Are you listing your car as a "motor car" or "ute/light vehicle"?
I am under 25, no previous incidents. I can't find anything under $1000, even if I choose "motor car" (greenslips.com.au)
As a ute - $373 (same as online calculator) plus 20% discount - $299
As a car online calculator gave me $395, quick phone call got this down to $350 without much effort.
You guys in Sydney are getting ripped. When I used 2000 (Sydney CBD) in the online calculator it added over $400 to the greenslip...

Just to make it clear, I have no spare room, not even for another mighty boygoose360 wrote:Wow, I didn't realise location made such a huge difference!
If I use your postcode with my details, it is literally half the price ($1168 to $581). Crazy...
Time to move out

Out of curiosity, who are you insured with?CHR15 N wrote:Full comp. insurance $460
I pay $480 a year with Shannons for an AV of $8000, but the coverage limits me to two days driving per month.
Can't help but feel that I'm being ripped off!
