An SC12 would be a stronger option.
F8B EFI turbo - Three pots and a snail.
Brayden,
(I think you may be able able to answer this one as, if memory serves me right, your original turbo set-up was using the original carby),
what is involved in running a supercharger "blowing through" the original carburator.
i.e. what modifications do you need to do to the carby, to pressurise it (to avoid it spewing petrol everywhere)?
I would like to do it on my dad's MB, but only if it is a "weekend project".
Cheers,

I used the carby from a Charade turbo, which is designed as a blow-through from the factory. If you wanted to use the standard carby you'd need to re-jet it, and build a pressure box to enclose it. This equalises the pressure and prevents the carby from hemorrhaging.

to make a pressure box, is it like a blow off valve?
to use the standard carby do ya have to use foam floats? as the standard float could crush under boost

are you sure the rotors are plastic?? i have one of these at home and the rotors look like the usual teflon coated aluminium rotors used on roots style blowers. i could be wrong though

A "pressure box" is simply a box around the carby to equalize the pressure on the inside and outside of the carby throat. when you ram any kind of positive (boost) pressure down the throat of the carburettor it will more likely then not spew out every join and screw hole in it as it's not designed for that use.tsunami hatch wrote:to make a pressure box, is it like a blow off valve?

The charade turbo carburettor is designed to handle boost and wont hemorrhage fuel everywhere.
Cant say about the float though, any suggestions brayden?
As for the blow off valve, thats different again... it prevents turbo cavitation when you shut off the throttle body/carby butterfly.

I'd say the standard float is capable of handling boost unless it has fatigued.

Way too small for a 1.3L motor IMO.
