your best bet would be to take it to the roadworthy place and let them go over it and what eva problems it has you have a month to fix them anyways, at least then u know what has to be done without guessing..

Check your local state roads dept website, it will list the items that are required to be in good working order for a vehicle to be road worthy, or ring them & they may be able to mail that document out to you.

Im with daronk here, get a day permit, take it to a mechanic, and what doesn't pass, get them to fix. That way, they will be able to pass it cause they have done all of the work, and if it doesn't pass, well it's their fault!

Trust me, i have just been through this very fun task! :x

My Alto costs around $570 which is almost as much as my 6 cyl BMW.

What a rip off.....but you can park in loading zones legally because you are paying for rego as a commercial vehicle....that's the only benefit.
Didn't I used to be somebody once !

Damn, that sucks!

I pay just under $500, i can't remember exactly for my MB down here in vic, and it's only about $30 cheaper than my large 6cyl Ford, which is the same as what my v8 panel van will cost me. They are all classified as Vehicle Light down here. :( I reckon Kei Class cars should be cheaper to rego as they need less resources to run them, eg fuel, tyres, oil & so on.

IIRC, in VIC, basic rego fee doesn't change much, but the TAC Premium in your rego changes depending on where you live & what type of car it is, and how it's represented in Accident Statistics. I live about 7kms outside the City Limits of Melb, making my rego about $40 or so cheaper than friends of mine who live inside the boundry. lol.

Cheers
