Roller Rocker from Matiz in F8B?

The F8C engine had some modification since Daewoo became part of Chevrolet. In the 2005 models Matiz they put roller rockers, or roller cam followers in. (whatever the correct name is). I'm not sure but I think they are aluminium, and should lower the valvetrain weight.

It will lower friction, and thus improve fuel efficiency, but it is also said that it will lower valvetrain noise significantly.

Has anyone experience swapping the rockers from a F8C engine to the Suzi F8B?

Im not sure this has been done, but would it not be a better idea to try and transplant the entire engine so you get EFI and all?

While I admire Radboud's enthusiam, I agree with Dave.

However, if an F8C head just happened to fall into your lap then it sounds like it'd certainly be worth a go!

Offcourse head swap is the better way to go but... F8C heads are about 125 euro at the junkyards around here for pre 2004 models. The roller rockers only came on the late >2004 models!

For a 70k engine with gearbox, ecu axle and fuel pump they ask 850euro. (Exchange rate is about 1.66 Euro to AUD)

Sorry guys for the grave dig, i've been doing it a bit of late.

But guess what? A F8c head, well the whole damn short engine has fallen into my lap, almost crushing me, but not quite.

I've a couple of F8b heads in the shed, one that i know is in bad need of a reco, should i be thinking about stripping it down & checking out if the bits fit?

I really don't know what year the F8c head is. I know the lifters look just teh same as the F8b items.

Would be interesting to see if the internals are interchangeable, because sadly the whole head is not a direct replacement for an F8B item.

I'm gonna be getting a low friction coating done on the cams of my F6A DOHC when i get to it.
I think thats the quickest and easiest way to go...

If you look at the top of the blocks & compare it's very easy to see that it's not a bolt on proposition, which really does suck! BUT if the rocker gear is compatible, there's some better than factory stuff around that fits. That's something. Maybe i'll get to stripping both heads of rocker gear this w/e, atm i'm busy with a few other little tasks, like cleaning up the drivers side hatch mount so it's looking sexy before i fit it to my boy. It's another one of those little things cluttering up my shed, getting in my way so i better get it on the boy!

I do wonder about the cam from the F8c, if it's a direct swap or not.....

Thx for the link, already read that page a few times!

I knew the valves won't swap, but i'm only interested in the rocker gear & possibly the cam.

Its fairly OT, but i believe the matiz engine & 5spd has been fit to a hatch or mighty boy by someone.
