Ive been looking at buying a new carby, haven't been able to find a 30dic or 30 dgv or 32adf, so i contacted my local mob allcarb who have recommended a 32/36dgv, jetted down to suit the f8b, but i would more like the electric choke which would be a 32/36dgev?

Also i cant find anybody who does a 3 cylinder electronic ignition conversion, can i just use a 6 cylinder kit kinda like a wasted spark set up? What have people used xr700, petronix?

I tried a 32/36 on my F8B and it was a pig to drive. Any hint of aggression on the throttle and the motor would bog down. They're best suited for engines twice the capacity.

With EFI manifolds readily available that's my first preference these days.

If you want electronic ignition, Verban sells a module for $60 that does the job.
For the carby you could one from a G10A, or an F10A Sierra.

Update on carby prices. Delivery from the us for the linked one is about $90 usd + 189 usd is about $310 aus,
vmi in melbourne $500 delivered nil stock aus 3 weeks.

Ignition upgrade looking at a xr700 kit with bosch gt40r and new ballast resistor for $240 from a local place near me.

Fuel miser rebuild kit is $83 at suziworld

On a side note i put a spare rebuilt f8b carby and it runs alot better so far, and if you have never pulled a carby off yet its only 4 nuts holding it down, just sticks, a few taps and its out. Stubby spanners are a good investment.

You can get new carbies from China much cheaper than that. Cam was selling some for $150 a pop, which means he was most likely getting them at that price, or cheaper.

From memory the box of 6 carbies I bought last year were USD $80 each and postage was only via some pricey courier (maybe dhl) from factory in china.
Maybe $200 or $250 all up for post.
Also had to buy longer studs and a gasket kit for each carb at retail price locally as carbs were slighty diferent to what was advertised in photo. Carbs were also blank, no markings but in photo had minkuni stamps.
I tipped the worker who responded to my emails $50 when I paid the total and got great service and plenty of updates and follow up emails. Quite excited even in broken english. I was nervous I was being taken for a ride until they showed up.
They work great on my mb and havent had any complaints from other members. I pretty much broke even which is all I was after.
I probably wouldnt do it again as its pretty easy to get burnt.

Cheers

Its alive, start and runs under its own steam :) no accelerator pump and i tore the gasket on it :x ,but i pulled down another carby and it doesnt have this brass plug thing so who knows, the other one is different aswell, 3 layer accelerator pump, a ball and pin in the float side compared to a brass tube with a hole in it, aftermarket float and needle set up that moves directly with the float which is retained, i will be posting a heap of photos i took of this second tear down.

Ignition side is sorted aswell, su12 coil instead of the gt40r and 1.6ohm resistor hopefully i can do a write up later on.
